Felix (Emiel Sandtke) has been raised by his grandmother and is planning to travel to Mongolia with his motorcycle. But before he embarks on his journey, he has to deal with an unsolved problem from his past: His father, Johan (Victor Löw), whom he has never met because he was only briefly with his mother and she never told him about the birth of Felix. Johan owns a jazz bar in Amsterdam and he meets regularly with a hustler (Juan Wells) for some quick sex. Felix goes to the pub to learn more about his father but he conceals his true identity. Boudewijn Koole has captured moments from the daily lives of two men who may appear trivial at first glance but who give the characters depth and substance. So we see Johan playing with a neighbour girl and Felix riding on a motorcycle or meeting with co-worker. The director finds the right images and creates an engaging family drama that depends on observation, not on dialogue.
